As college students I know sometimes we put things such as voting to the side. We would rather watch television, go out with friends, work out in the fitness center, or surf Facebook and twitter. We would do everything but vote. With the upcoming presidential election coming up in fall 2012, it is important that all college students step out of their boundaries and voice their opinions on who they would like to run their country. Every single last vote counts. We have to remember how current President Obama won his presidential campaign in 2008. Obama unanimously won the college students votes all across the country. That played a huge factor in his success. That shows right there that college students voting are just as important as adults with careers voting.
As college students, we have to remember that we are adults too. We are not faced with task just yet of dealing with the real world, but we are on the verge of dealing with it. We also need to start acting like an adult because political decisions will be made that will affect us once we graduate from college.
Do you all remember the voting in Florida in the year 2000? The debacle in Florida that followed the 2000 presidential election is still fresh in many people's minds. If we were to ask college students to go back in time and cast their votes, there might be more urgency for college students to vote.
College students may also don’t vote maybe because their friends don’t vote, or they don’t think it is cool to vote. In reality, it is cool to vote and make a difference in society and our government. We as college students have society know that we are adults too and we have a voice of opinion in this county. Voting is a way that we can voice our opinions. Here is a list of common reasons that college students do not vote; do you fit in this category?http://collegelife.about.com/od/2008votingandelection/a/whyishouldvote.htm
