William Todd, 24 |
One man who is traveling is committing crime sprees in
Tennessee, and the local police said they never seen such a thing. William Todd, 24, is accused of committing
ten felonies in just nine hours through Nashville. Todd does not live or was born in Nashville;
he traveled there on a Greyhound bus from Kentucky before beginning his crime
spree. Crazy right? The story gets even
weirder. When he arrived in Nashville,
he allegedly broke into a local business called the Slaughterhouse, and he
stole a Taser, revolver and a shotgun.
Then he stole a t-shirt from the same place before burning the business
to the ground. Clearly this guy has some
serious issues and what was the motivation behind this? Todd then moved on to a local bar where he
held four people at gunpoint. He robbed
the individuals but not before using the Taser on one and pistol-whipping
another. Just five minutes later, Todd
moved on to his next felony, he carjacked a taxi driver at gunpoint. After leaving the cab, he used the credit
cards that he stole from the people at the bar to buy food. He was able to find a Wal-Mart in Nolensville
and he bought 199 dollars worth of items.
This guy is reckless and very dangerous, Sgt. Tony Blackburn said he has
never seen such a thing before and that was only the beginning.
On the
following morning Todd broke into a local hotel’s law office where he
vandalized the offices, defecated on a desk and smeared his feces on some of
the framed law degrees. What kind of
human being does such a thing; something has to be mentally wrong with him
because that is so disgusting. He leaves
the offices and he reportedly robbed several of the hotel guests, by knocking
on their door and pretending to be a female housekeeper and then robbing them
at gunpoint. He was also reportedly
crying while doing the robbing. My
question is where are the police when all of this is happening? After the
robbery he changed his personal appearance, the police have him on video
leaving the hotel with his head shaved.
Todd just keeps going and going because after he crashes his stolen cab
into a local parking garage, he then quickly held another taxi driver at
gunpoint. This makes you think twice
about becoming a taxi driver! Police finally apprehended Todd, after Metro
Police officers were called to the Opryland property in the Donelson area, a
taxi driver reported that a man refused to pay the required fare and threatened
him with a knife. The Opryland security
witnessed the incident and followed the suspect, who was identified as Todd who
fled on foot to the cooling tower. The
officers climbed the ladder on the side of the cooling tower and Todd was found
in the water pit. They took him out of
the tower by using a basket and a ladder truck.
Todd’s bond is set at $ 180,000 and he was booked on three counts of
aggravated assault, theft of cab services and being a fugitive from justice out
of Kentucky, and that was just a few of his counts that he was booked with,
additional charges are anticipated. He
was taken to a hospital, where they found heroin use in his system. He hurt incident people for no reason and now
these people have to deal with the agony.
Hopefully he goes to jail for a long time.
I only have one word to describe my thoughts initially. That is "unbelievable". It reminds me of like a gone in 60 seconds mentality, where they boost all the cars in one night before the cops even knew what hit them. Beyond that though, i know the heroin will try to be used as an excuse, but you cannot equate all of his actions to that. Do i want him to go to jail? absolutely? do i think he should be there for a long time? unfortunately not. It will not help him being in there, but more likely than not, cause more fights, and violence that isn't beneficial to anyone. They should lock him up until he is drug free and then transfer him to a rehab place, potentially even within the prison, if it exists!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a video game. During the first part of this post I was thinking about the good old days of Grand Theft Auto, but then when he started defecating on peoples belongings then it got a little weird. This man clearly has something wrong with him and needs to go to prison.
ReplyDeleteThis certainly isn't something you hear of everyday. My only question is how did it take so long for the police to find him. It should not have taken them two and a half days to someone rampaging through a town. I only hope nothing like this happens around here.
ReplyDeleteWow. I cannot believe the extent to which this man broke the law in such a short period of time. Just as somebody else mentioned, this made me think of the GTA games. I feel that this man definitely needs to be charged to the fullest extent of the law in order to deter any other people from committing such a crime spree. However, due to his competence and drug history I feel that he should also be placed in rehab and other programs designed to help him get better.
ReplyDeleteGo big or go home I guess. I do not think holly wood could make a movie about this guy (maybe Tarantino) because no one would believe it. Sounds like a classic case of a mental breakdown where the guy simply snapped. As Matt said the guy probably did play too much GTA. Am I ready to blame video games? Absolutely not I think the notion that video games can make someone commit crimes is simply not true. Hope it was worth a long long time in prison. I am glad that he did not kill anyone during his episode.
ReplyDeleteIt most likely sounds like this man was mentally disturbed or on some intense drugs. His erratic actions could be the result of meth use. This is like something out of a bad crime movie. The amount of things he did in such a short time is intense. The heroin use explains a lot but I still think that there were some underlying mental issues with this man. I am surprised that this was not a news headliner across the nation. I am glad that this man did not kill anyone. However I am sure if he was not caught he definitely would have seriously injured someone or killed someone. I am also confused as to why he was not captured sooner. He left a trail every place he went to.
